10 things We Don’t miss about China

As you know, we liked living in China, we liked our task as well as everybody we satisfied was great. We’re always so incredibly positive about China as well as rave about exactly how excellent it is. There are many, many things we miss about living here. However, just like every place, there are some downsides to living in this country.

Here’s a listing of 10 things that we don’t miss about China:

1. The Air Quality. I’ve never been somewhere with such horrible pollution. Some days we actually couldn’t see out of our window. during different times of the year it can be truly good, or truly bad. We had a “China cough” almost every day.

2. Smoking. One thing we didn’t understand before travelling right here was that almost every guy in China smokes. even though there are “no smoking” indications on trains, in restaurants as well as other areas, it doesn’t matter, they still light up. as well as of course, nobody complains.

3. Peeing On The Street. this we’ll never get utilized to. kids have a slit cut out of their pants for easier gain access to to going to the bathroom (a number one or a number two). The only thing is, they just go on the streets, into garbage cans, in supermarkets, in train stations…where ever. even if a bathroom is just a couple of steps away.

For easier gain access to to doing a #1 as well as #2…slits are discovered in the pants of Chinese youngsters aged 7 as well as under
4. The Spitting & Farmer’s Blowing. We now comprehend the requirement for clearing of mucus out of one’s lungs. however that doesn’t mean we enjoy hearing as well as seeing it. nor do we enjoy a farmer’s blow, get some tissue!

5. The Driving. The driving in China is horrendous. We’ve been to many countries as well as seen some quite poor drivers, however I believe they’re the worst here! nobody shoulder checks, pedestrians don’t have the right-of-way, they speed as well as swerve around the street as well as then shout at each other when there’s an mishap – when clearly both celebrations included were at fault! We’ve seen so many mishaps here, it’s insane.

6. Our Bed. Our backs have thanked us since leaving here. No amount of padding might assist this board of a bed.

The dreaded bed in China!
7. Yelling At Children. parents as well as Grandparents shriek at their kids as well as smack them all the time, which is something that we personally don’t agree with.

8. MSG & Oily Food. We like the food in China, it’s so tasty as well as there’s so much variety. However, there are big amounts of MSG used, which adds flavour however the sodium material is so high. The food is likewise rather oily as well as usually fried.

Even though we like the food in China, it’s full of MSG as well as is a bit oily
9. Their Hatred For The Japanese. We had no concept exactly how much animosity the Chinese people have for the Japanese. I believe it’s more so in our area of China. during WWII the Japanese tortured as well as murdered many Chinese people in Nanjing, the funding of our province. Our trainees were always making racist comments as well as as non-racist people, it was difficult for us to tolerate.

Chinese people (in our area at least) dislike Japanese people – a bumper sticker in our apartment complex as well as a restaurant indication in Wuxi

10. Being as well tall For This Country. now this isn’t China’s fault, however we are tall people (I’m 5’10” as well as Nick is 6’0″), so it’s nice to be able to buy clothes that in shape us as well as not have to hunch over to utilize our kitchen area counter as well as our bicycles!

Short counter-tops aren’t suitable for tall people.
With every country there will be some cons to travelling or living there. For China, we struggled to find up with these ten downsides. There are so many excellent things about living abroad, as well as living right here in China has been a wonderful experience. One  we will cherish as well as never forget!
